Sepang International Circuit inks three-year naming rights deal with Petronas

Partnership to elevate Malaysia as destination for sports, entertainment

KUALA LUMPUR – Sepang International Circuit (SIC) today announced a three-year naming rights partnership with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas).

This is the first time in the history of the racing circuit that it has a name sponsor, and as a result, it will be known as the Petronas Sepang International Circuit from now on.

The partnership with SIC and Petronas represents a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to local and international fans to further elevate Malaysia as a destination for sports and entertainment. 

SIC chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif extended his gratitude to the oil and gas giant for believing in their vision and joining them on this journey.

“I believe that this partnership will have an impact on the racing landscape, and more brands will take advantage of the added value for their businesses and customers to be associated with SIC and Petronas. 

“As one of the industry leaders in motorsports through its engagements in Formula 1 and MotoGP, this shall open doors to new opportunities to host more international events at our world-class venue,” he said.

Petronas senior general manager of Group Strategic Relations and Communications, Datin Anita Azrina Abdul Aziz, added that they are honoured to embark on the partnership with SIC.

“This partnership is an investment that represents the pinnacle of our long-standing relationship, and we are committed to supporting the growth and development of the sports and entertainment industry in Malaysia and beyond. 

“This collaboration goes beyond just naming rights – it signifies our dedication to promoting world-class events, fostering talent development, and showcasing our nation’s capabilities on a global stage,” she said. – October 31, 2023
