Esports: Malaysia will host next year’s M6 World Championships

Next year’s tournament will be the second time the country has hosted the event since 2019

9:40 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia will host the next edition of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championships in 2024.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim announced this during his speech at the M5 Grand Finals taking place at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila, the Philippines today.

The M6 next year will be the second time the country hosts the event since the first edition in 2019.

“M6 will be a momentous occasion for our nation, and we are eager to welcome players, fans and esports enthusiasts from across the globe to experience the hospitality and passion that Malaysia has to offer.

“The collective efforts of all Malaysians will craft an unforgettable experience, embodying the spirit of Malaysia Truly Asia.

“Thank you, and may the battles be intense, the victories sweet, and the friendships everlasting. See you in Malaysia for M6,” he said.

Adam added that he hopes that Malaysia’s representatives at M5 – Team SMG and Homebois – will return stronger next year with the tournament being on home ground.

“While it is unfortunate that we won’t see our Malaysian representatives compete in the Grand Finals (this year), their unwavering spirit is greatly admired by all.

“I truly hope that Homebois and Team SMG leverage this experience as fuel, striving for improvement and returning even stronger next year,” he added.

Both Homebois and Team SMG failed to make it out of group play after suffering identical 1-2 records. – December 17, 2023
