ALOR STAR – Selangor FC head coach Tan Cheng Hoe is taking a short break to celebrate the Chinese New Year (CNY) with his family in his hometown here in Simpang Empat.

Cheng Hoe said that for this festive season, he will be on leave starting today and will resume his duties next Monday due to a hectic schedule.

Despite the league competition only commencing in May, the Red Giants squad has been undergoing training in phases.

“However, the team is not yet complete at this point, as some players who played in the Asian Cup in Qatar are still on a break,” he said today.

Among the Selangor players involved are Faisal Halim and Khuzaimi Piee, Noor Al-Rawabdeh (Jordan) and Umar Eshmurodov (Uzbekistan).

Regarding the Chinese New Year celebration, Cheng Hoe said that about 20 of his family members would be gathering for a reunion dinner tonight.

“We’ll be celebrating on a moderate scale. Once everyone arrives, it will definitely be lively…but there are no plans to hold an open house,” he stated.

Cheng Hoe, the sixth of eight siblings, also expressed hope that the Year of the Dragon would bring happiness, success and good health for him and his family. – February 9, 2024
