ARRC 2024: Hafizh Syahrin unfazed despite setback ahead of opening race

Team’s equipment and spare bikes arrived this morning, in time for tomorrow’s practice

KUALA LUMPUR – JDT Racing rider, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah, remains undeterred despite having only one day to test his motorbikes ahead of the first round of the 2024 Asia Road Race Championship (ARRC) at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, following a shipment delay.

It is understood that his team’s equipment, along with several other teams, arrived early this morning, and the mechanics are working tirelessly to prepare the bikes for the free practice session tomorrow.

Fortunately, Hafizh had already tested his team’s Ducati Panigale V46 last month at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) to gather the latest data in preparation for this weekend’s races.

This marks Hafizh’s debut in the ARRC’s Asian Superbike 1000 category, after spending 10 years in the Moto2 and MotoGP World Championships, before switching to the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) in 2022.

“We tested the bike back in February, and I can say it wasn’t as difficult as expected. We’re trying to understand the compound surface of this circuit.

“I believe everything happens for a reason. The mechanics have been working to fit all the equipment since 4am this morning, so I am ready to perform my duties well this weekend,” said Hafizh.

Additionally, Hafizh mentioned that he is familiar with the Buriram circuit, having raced there during the MotoGP World Championship with the Tech 3 team in 2018.

“I’ve been here before during official MotoGP testing, and I really like this circuit because the conditions here suit my riding style.

“We’ll see how the performance goes tomorrow,” he added. – March 14, 2024
