KUALA LUMPUR – Paper Rex (PRX) secured their spot in the playoffs of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Masters Madrid after triumphing over Karmine Corp by a score of 2-1, early this morning.

After defeating Team Heretics yesterday, PRX aims to reaffirm their status as a formidable team on the international stage, seeking to demonstrate that they remain a force to be reckoned with.

The Singapore-based team – represented by Malaysian Ahmad Khalish “d4v41” Rusyaidee Nordin, Indonesians Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto and Aaron “mindfreak” Leonhart, Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha and Russia’s Ilya “something” Petrov – got off to a good start, winning their map pick Bind 13-10.

However, Karmine Corp – Ryan “shin” Ensaad Martin “marteen” Pátek, Martin “Magnum” Peňkov, Tomás “tomaszy” Machado and Marshall “N4RRATE” Massey – fought back and levelled the score at 1-1 by winning on their map pick, Lotus, with a dominating score of 13-6.

Karmine Corp then started the deciding match on Ascent with a 7-5 lead, but PRX showed their resilience by making a comeback, levelling the score to 12-12 and pushing the game into overtime.

D4v41 then showed his dominance on defence by getting three kills to secure a 14-12 victory and their spot in the playoffs.

Following this victory, PRX will now face Gen G in a much-anticipated rematch next Thursday to hopefully take their place in the upper final stage. – March 19, 2024
