ABK23: Arif Aiman creates history by sweeping MVP for third consecutive time

JDT striker proves his mettle and dominance again, claiming all four prestigious awards in the ceremony

KUALA LUMPUR – Arif Aiman Mohd Hanapi of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) once again demonstrated his dominance in the local football scene by securing the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title for the third consecutive year at the 2023 National Football Awards (ABK23) held tonight, reported Bernama. 

Throughout the season, the 21-year-old showcased remarkable skills, leading JDT to numerous victories and earning him recognition across the board, as he claimed all four prestigious titles presented during the ceremony. 

In addition to being named MVP, the talented player from Pahang was voted Best Striker and Best Young Player.  

His goal against Perak FC in the Malaysia Cup semifinal was deemed the Best Goal of the Season. 

Arif Aiman also shared the top scorer’s award for local players with Mohd Faisal Halim, both having netted 12 goals each during the season. 

As anticipated, JDT, with their 10th consecutive Super League title, secured the Best Team award.  

Furthermore, the JDT players celebrated three additional accolades. 

Aside from Arif Aiman and JDT’s triumph, Ahmad Syihan Hazmi received the Best Goalkeeper Award, Muhammad Afiq Fazail was honoured with the Best Midfielder Award, and Bergson Da Silva claimed the Best Import Player Award. 

Terengganu FC was recognised with the Fair Play award, while Muhammad Ubaidullah Shamsul Fazili of TFC was named Best Player, and Muhammad Azam Azmi Murad earned the Best Defender Award. 

The Best Coach Award went to former Selangor coach Tan Cheng Hoe, while Ayron Del Valle emerged as the Super League’s Top Scorer. 

Ebenezer Kofi Assifuah-Inkoom, striker for Kedah Darul Aman FC, clinched the MFL Trophy as the top scorer, having scored 16 goals.
