Foreign female para-swimming coach to get back to work after sexual misconduct case classified as ‘no further action’

National sports council says police found no evidence to support allegations against trainer

KUALA LUMPUR – The case involving sexual assault allegations by a coach on a para-swimmer has been classified as “no further action.”

In a statement today, the National Sports Council (NSC) said police, after conducting investigations on March 26, did not find any evidence to support the allegations levelled at the coach.

“The NSC, through its Misconduct and Sports Protection Committee, has also conducted its own detailed investigation into the issue, including interviewing all parties involved.

“The results of the investigation by the committee also could not find any base or witnesses to support the allegation of misconduct.

“As a result, the NSC has decided that the coach be reinstated to her position to coach the country’s para-swimmers who are preparing for the Paris Paralympics.

“The NSC will always strive to ensure a safe environment for all parties involved in its training programmes and has never taken lightly any complaints received,” read the statement.

The NSC added that it had comprehensive and transparent complaint and investigation procedures, including the priority of protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all parties involved in any inquiry conducted.

“We hope that all parties, including the media, understand that the mental and physical wellbeing of the athletes is always the NSC’s priority.

“The rights and needs of these athletes need to be protected and we are always ready to take necessary action to help deal with speculation and inaccurate reports that affect them,” the NSC added. – March 31, 2024
