Junior triple jumper Tak Sing wins bronze in U20 Asian meet

18-year-old records his personal best of 15.63m in third jump out of six in Dubai

KUALA LUMPUR – National junior triple jump athlete Ng Tak Sing won bronze at the 21st Asian Under-20 Athletics Championships in Dubai today. 

He recorded a personal best of 15.63m in his third jump out of six. 

Xu Hetong from China claimed the gold medal with a jump of 15.85m, while Sami Mousa Bahkeet of Saudi Arabia clinched silver with a jump of 15.71m. 

Tak Sing recorded a first jump of 14.53m, followed by 14.97m. 

After recording his personal best in the third, he registered 15.39m in his fourth jump and 15.18m in his fifth.  

Unfortunately, the 18-year-old’s sixth jump was disqualified due to a fault. 

Tak Sing’s outstanding performance not only earned him a podium finish but also secured his qualification for the World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru in August, as the qualifying standard is set at 15.5m. – April 26, 2024
