KUALA LUMPUR – His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim has extended his best wishes and encouragement to Malaysia’s national contingent as they gear up for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
He expressed this after a ceremony held today at Istana Negara as he completed the formal handover of the Jalur Gemilang to the Malaysian contingent.
“I would like to wish the best of luck to all the country’s athletes who will compete in the 2024 Olympic Games.
“Together we pray for excellence for the athletes who represent the country at the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” Sultan Ibrahim told the Royal Press Office.
The flag handover event marked a significant moment as the nation prepares to support its athletes on the global stage.
Among those in attendance were Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, and Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM) president Datuk Seri Megat D. Shariman.
Youth and Sports Ministry secretary-general Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, Chef de Mission (CDM) of the national contingent for the Olympics Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, and CDM of the national contingent for the Paralympics Datuk Subramanian Raman Nair were also present.
A total of 25 Malaysian athletes will participate in the Paris Olympics, with the Paralympics featuring another 20 athletes.
The Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11, while the Paralympics will take place from August 28 to September 8. – July 2, 2024
