KLFA pays RM50,000 towards EPF arrears for KL City players

The amount settled for overdue EPF contributions, with remaining balance to be paid in stages; KLFA also explores full ownership of Cheras stadium

KUALA LUMPUR — The Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) has settled part of the outstanding Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributions for Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) players, which have been overdue since 2021 up to February this year.

KLFA president Syed Yazid Syed Omar said the association has paid a sum of RM50,000 towards the EPF arrears and that the remaining balance will be paid in stages.

“EPF contributions for this month and the coming months will continue to be paid as usual. We have paid RM50,000 for EPF arrears over 24 months,” he told reporters at the KLFA Football Supporters Club’s Annual General Meeting here today.

Meanwhile, Syed Yazid said one month’s salary arrears for October is expected to be credited into the players’ accounts by tomorrow.

He noted that the payment was made last week, but some technical issues from the bank caused a slight delay.

In another development, Syed Yazid said KLFA is considering full ownership of the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

“We need to meet the new Mayor, and as part of the previous process, we had signed an agreement with DBKL for 15 years,” he said.

Syed Yazid added that the association will offer Malaysia Cup match tickets and T-shirts to members of the KLFA Football Supporters Club and will channel a donation of RM5,000 to the club.

Earlier, Syazrul Effendy Ibrahim was re-elected as president of the KLFA Football Supporters Club for the 2024-2026 term. — November 10, 2024
