Azizulhasni rides again for the first time since Paris Olympics

National track cycling star rides again, leaving fans wondering if he will continue his competitive journey after recent hints from MNCF president

KUALA LUMPUR — National track cycling champion Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang has returned to cycling after his last ride at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In a video shared on his Facebook page today, he revealed that he did not take his bike to the track but instead rode on the road.

“Alhamdulillah, it’s my first day cycling since the Paris Olympics. I hadn’t touched my bicycle until today. Alhamdulillah, I got to cycle with the Malaysian track endurance and road riders, the backup cyclists, and future champions… Insya-Allah,” he said in the clip.

“Sometimes, it feels like there’s no need to touch the bicycle, but no matter the challenges or obstacles, we can overcome them and make it happen,” he added.

Speculation continues over whether the 2020 Tokyo Olympic silver medallist, known as the Pocket Rocketman, will continue his cycling career. Azizulhasni has kept silent on the matter, adding to the uncertainty.

Recently, Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) president Datuk Amarjit Singh hinted that Azizulhasni may return to competition in several championships next year. — November 13, 2024
