Malaysia proved unable to hold their own, succumbing to a 2-0 defeat against Vietnam in their second Under-23 Asian Cup Group D match at Qatar’s Khalifa International Stadium today.
Annil Vigneswaran, who has spent years playing abroad, is excited to get back on the field and prove his mettle for Harimau Muda after being called up to the national under-23 football team for the AFC Under-23 Asian Cup, scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, from April 15 to May 3.
FAM secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman said the games would involve India (March 22 and 25), China (April 3), Qatar (April 6 or 7) and one more team for April 10 or 11.
Former national footballers, who once proudly donned the Malaysia jersey, have been quick to shower praise upon the Harimau Muda for securing a spot in the next year’s U-23 Asian Cup.
