Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri confirmed the incident, adding that Op Tutup was launched in various locations, including the Muallim district, to track down and rearrest the illegal immigrants who had escaped the detention facility.
The suspect was in the process of being brought to court to be charged when he escaped and subsequently, an operation was conducted that involved 11 roadblocks that began at 11.30am involving all police personnel and he was apprehended at about 2.30 pm, he added.
A Sabah MP pointed out that the recent incident involving a Sabahan food delivery rider and another man was an example of how youths from the state are facing alleged discrimination.
