A royal commission of inquiry (RCI) should be set up to investigate how Malaysia was short-changed in the “shocking” settlement agreement with investment bank Goldman Sachs over its role in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) financial scandal, said a DAP lawmaker.
Jawatankuasa Suruhanjaya Siasatan Diraja (RCI) perlu ditubuhkan bagi menyiasat sepenuhnya mengapa Malaysia ketika pentadbiran kerajaan Perikatan Nasional (PN) pimpinan Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, menandatangani perjanjian penyelesaian didakwa ‘berat sebelah’ dan merugikan negara dengan Goldman Sachs Group Inc (Goldman Sachs).
The agreement signed between the Malaysian government and Goldman Sachs Group Inc regarding the recovery of 1Malaysia Development Bhd assets in 2020 was vague and not detailed, said 1MDB Asset Recovery Taskforce chairman Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
