Those eligible for the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah will receive their cash aid from January 22 onwards, with an increase from RM600 to RM1,200 per household, and RM600 for singles.
The government is considering providing special monthly cash assistance for households that are unable to participate in income-generating initiatives, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The prime minister said the measure involved several institutions and aid programmes among them Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, zakat institutions throughout the country, as well as People’s Income Initiative.
