The Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM) pledges to empower and mould para-athletes into future leaders through the establishment of its athletes' commission.
PCM president Datuk Seri Megat D. Shahriman Zaharudin said para swimmer Carmen Lim will lead the council as it requires athletes’ representation at governing board decision-making levels to drive the Paralympic Movement.
This year, the Malaysian contingent comprise 113 athletes and 63 officials. The athletes are poised to partake in 104 out of the total 564 sporting events.
A desire to impart her years of experience to the younger generation has seen former world number five squash player Low Wee Wern make the tough decision to hang up her racquet.
Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the process was carried out legally, adding that MB Inc held a series of direct negotiations with the farm operators since 2021, in addition to offering ex-gratia at a reasonable rate.
