Putrajaya should consider increasing civil servants' Employees Provident Fund contributions as part of its proposal to abolish pensions, DAP lawmaker Dr Kelvin Yii told the Dewan Rakyat today.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has said that the proposal to abolish pensions for politicians will first be discussed at the cabinet level and then brought to Parliament before any decision is implemented.
The government has dismissed allegations that the proposal to abolish the pension scheme for new intakes of civil servants would victimise the Malays, who form the majority in government service.
