Victims of the Sg Kim Kim pollution are urging the government to reassess the penalties imposed on those responsible for the river contamination, as they argue that the punishment is insufficient in light of the victims’ significant suffering.
A lorry driver has been fined a maximum of RM100,000 for causing pollution by the illegal disposal of scheduled waste in Sg Kim Kim Pasir Gudang, Johor, in 2019.
The Pardons Board should disclose the reasons behind its decision to grant ex-prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak a reduced prison sentence and fine, said Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh.
