A Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency personnel, who was shot in the eye in a shootout in the Kunak waters yesterday, has lost sight in his left eye.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency's noble intention to inspect and offer assistance when its personnel spotted a boat that appeared to have run aground in the waters of Kg Pangi, Kunak, took an unexpected turn, with shots fired by the boat's tekong (skipper).
The bullet that hit MMEA junior maritime petty officer Zainal Abad Komel in the right eye was surgically removed and he will not need an eye replacement, said Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
